
Apple set their target to sell a billion songs through iTunes, and have made it, hardly 16 days after the announcement was made. The iTunes market is made up of music lovers in 21 countries, with 2,130 songs sold every minute. The auspicious one billionth track downloaded, was Coldplay’s “Speed of Sound” from the album X&Y. Alex Ostrovsky was the lucky music aficionado who purchased the track, winning a 20-inch Mac, 10 60GB iPods and a whopping $10,000 iTunes Music Card to go nuts with. Prizes are also given out for every hundred thousandth download, winners receiving a black 4GB iPod nano and a $100 iTunes Music Card.
