
TiVo is toying with the idea of offering a free set-top box in exchange for a higher price and locking in on long term plans. This could make the current $13 monthly service charge a distant memory. TiVo is looking to expand on their 4 million subscriber base with this strategy, and a free set top box might just do the trick. After all, instant gratification has been the most effective marketing mantra since the dawn of time.
