Apple move stuns computing industry with BAPco move

Apple has joined BAPco, the industry-standard Windows benchmarking consortium. Other BAPco members include luminaries such as AMD, Intel, ATI, nVidia, Microsoft, Dell, HP, Seagate, and others. These companies cooperate on developing test methodologies based on industry standard programs, including benchmarking programs like SYSmark and MobileMark. As Apple commits itself to Windows-based performing testing, could this be the first step toward PC/Mac compatibility in terms of hardware and software?
