Check out the “mental typewriter” – a device that translates thoughts into cursor movements on a computer screen. With 128 electrodes placed on the user’s scalp, EEG-like signals are decoded by virtue of a software program, including composing words and sentences. The neural analysis process is time-consuming with a typical sentence taking 5 to 10 minutes to write. Hopefully enough advancement can be made to help those with severe disabilities to communicate better via computers.
