UltraCell XX25 could be commercialized by end of this year

The UltraCell XX25 micro fuel cell system is powered by a reformed methanol fuel cell technology. These pre-production units were designed for military use, with beta tests scheduled to run by the middle of this year. A commercial version could be available before 2006 is over. A single methanol fuel cell cartridge can run a notebook for up to 2 working days. Since these cartridges are hot-swappable, recharging will be a thing of the past.
