15,700 notebook batteries recalled by HP

Over 20 reports of overheating batteries with a case of minor burn injury has prompted HP to recall 15,700 batteries from the HP and Compaq line of notebooks. Only lithium ion batteries manufactured in January 2005 with a bar code label that starts with L3 are recalled. About 26% of these batteries are in the U.S. alone. All the following models are suspected of carrying these batteries: dv1xxx and ze2xxx in the HP Pavilion Family, nx48xx in the HP Compaq Family, and V2xxx and M2xxx in the Compaq Presario Family.
