Itronix GPS Integrated notebook gains government recognition

The Itronix VR1 semi-rugged notebook is unique in the sense it ships with integrated support for 4 RF modems (Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and Wireless WAN). The magnesium alloy case and shock-mounted hard drive and display were included to withstand falls that are no higher than 30″. The VR1 comes with a fingerprint scanner for security reasons. A basic unit will cost you $3000. Plonk down an additional $1300 and you’ll get a 80GB heated hard drive, integrated GPS, and 2GB of RAM. This notebook was awarded the “Best of FOSE” title from Government Computer News for its robustness and durability. GPS chip prices have been spiralling downwards all the time, making notebooks with integrated GPS more and more commonplace.
