Microsoft will release a software version of the Media Center Extender (MCX) that is specially programmed for the Origami. This means the Origami can be hooked up to any MCE within the vicinity and inherit the functions as well. You can even control the house with the Origami if you have automation software for the MCE. Currently, only a couple of MCX form factors are available – the Xbox 360 and the Linksys WMCE54AG. Hopefully this positive step from Microsoft will spur UMPC sales and push the smart home initiative forward.
