Traveling in summer does not only mean packing your bags with clothes and suntan lotion – you also have to carry your portable media player, iPod, GPS unit, notebook, PDA, cellphone, Nintendo DS, digital camera, the list goes on. What happens when you run out of juice outdoors? Have no fear – the Sol8 briefcase-sized device is the perfect travel companion. It uses solar energy to recharge power hungry mobile devices, reducing the enviromental damage caused by disposable batteries. The 9.5 pound briefcase opens to reveal a couple of solar panels and generates 13W (14VDC/750mA) of power to satisfy the majority of portable gizmos. The Sol8 solar briefcase retails for around $140.
