TDK plans to develop a Blu-ray disc that offers a whopping 200GB of storage space. That is equivalent to triple of what the average home computer/notebook hard drive size is. Should TDK achieve their target, this new Blu-ray disc will offer 4 times the capacity of the current largest BDs. We reckon this monumental ambition will be achieved soon, as TDK had already unveiled a 100GB prototype last May that contained a quartet of storage layers and supports a write speed of up to 216Mbps.
