Cingular slip up in nationwide 3G launch

Cingular discovered the errors of its ways and repented by performing a 180-degree turn of its current policy that allows 3G (UMTS) phones to be sold in 2G (EDGE) areas. Cingular’s UMTS phones can access Cingular Video and other 3G services via the EDGE network whenever the 3G network is unavailable, leading to disappointment in many users due to the poor video performance over EDGE. National resellers are to return all 3G handsets before a second 3G nationwide launch rolls around in October. Cingular had better revamp their marketing department which is filled to the brim with geniuses who approved the sale of 3G features in non-covered areas.
