GrandOpera LCD modular PC concept

A monitor and PC unit converged together offer more free space on the desk, but if either component gives up the ghost first, the other half is unsalvageable. Japan’s Quixun has reworked an old solution mooted by IBM to this potential pitfall with the GrandOpera LCD.The LCD comes with a slot behind to connect a small, modular PC within. Available in 32″, 37″, and 42″ models, GrandOpera LCDs will take some getting used to at first due to their size, but it also doubles up as a LCD TV when used with the built-in analog TV tuner. Unfortunately, the picture quality isn’t all that hot. GrandOpera LCDs will be released in Japan sometime next month from $1300 onwards. This concept will not fly unless the connectors used within are standardized across the entire industry.
