HP issues recall for almost 700,000 digital cameras

Anyone who purchased the HP Photosmart R707 digital cameras between August 2004 and April this year ought to stop using their cameras unless the latest firmware update has been applied. This update prevents the camera from applying a charge to non-rechargeable batteries, negating the chances of the camera overheating and catching fire when connected to an AC adaptor or docking station. So far no injuries have been reported but the US Consumer Product Safety Commission states that HP has issues a recall for almost 700,000 of such cameras.
