Nintendo has kept the hardware details of the upcoming Wii console firmly under wraps for quite some time now while their competitors have bared all. Thankfully, NEC and MoSys have verified that the Wii will be equipped with both 1T-SRAM and eDRAM memory. MoSys will supply extremely high performance memory to be used as the main system RAM in the Wii. Memory speeds aside, I guess what gamers really want to know is how fast IBM’s PowerPC-based CPU can go and the numbers churned out by ATI’s “Hollywood” GPU that will be used in the Wii. All this uncertainty makes waiting for November to roll around even more torturous.
