Microsoft has issued a statement that their next-generation game console, the Xbox 360 will not see a price cut this year, dashing the hopes of many who are looking forward to a cheaper console. This move comes as a surprise since both the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 are scheduled to be released this holiday season. Still, if current price levels remain, Microsoft still has a $200 advantage over the respective versions of the PlayStation 3. One must not read too much into things as Microsoft are still quite capable of hitting Sony where it hurts when Christmas rolls around by reversing their decision.
