Samsung looks into hybrid Blu-ray/HD DVD player

Even though Samsung has thrown its weight behind the Blu-ray DVD format with the release of its BD-P1000 player, it might consider sleeping with the enemy by creating a hybrid universal player if the HD DVD is as successful as the Blu-ray disc. Now that’s a pretty haughty assumption to make as Blu-ray DVD reviews have nothing but unfavorable reports regarding the stability of the machine as well as less crisp picture quality when compared to HD DVD. Such a hybrid player will require a couple of blue laser read heads and the machine could potentially cost up up to $1300 or more. Will there be a market at that price?
