Skype and Dell have teamed up to offer faster VoIP calls for consumers. Each new Dell PC will have instant access to Skype’s software, such as the 20.1″ Dell XPS 2010. Other models like the Dell XPS 1210 will come pre-loaded with Skype along with a pair of noise-isolation earbuds, a webcam, and mobile broadband capability. This corporate move bodes well for both parties, as Dell being a seeding platform can share revenues with Skype as users tend to use whatever they are given after purchasing a brand new PC. It is also one of the most effective way to gain market share – just take a look at Microsoft’s Internet Explorer a few years ago.
