A social engineering experiment conducted by a security firm yielded pretty interesting results. USB drives strategically located at areas where employees gather could provide a way for people to gain access to the company’s network upon plugging in the aforementioned drives. Data of all sorts, including sensitive ones like password information to the local system and other PCs over the network can be transmitted back to the security company’s office when the drives are plugged in. This news will definitely send shivers down those in the banking and health care industry where data is of personal nature and any compromise could prove devastating.
