Mac and Linux users can now rejoice with the rest of the Windows community as the Songbird open-source media player is now available on the former two platforms. Based on the Firefox engine, the Songbird media player comes with a built-in web search and supports user-created extensions that will appeal to those who like to customize their programs. You can expect a wide range of codec support, including FLAC, AAC, and Ogg Vorbis playback. Songbird’s website claims that this is a pre-0.2 release so you can expect it to crash and burn occasionally. Download it here today.
