Sales of Sony’s PlayStation 2 topped the charts last month at 231,000 units, 11,000 ahead of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 according to the NPD Group. Microsoft has averaged 246,000 Xbox 360 sales in the U.S. each month since its release, while the PS2 averages 473,000 units monthly thanks to its strong holiday sales last December. Looks like gamers are still not going to commit to the next-generation console war wholeheartedly until the PlayStation 3 makes its long awaited and expensive debut later this year.
