Film piracy is extremely rampant these days no thanks to great leaps in the field of digital camcorders, with blockbuster movies being released in the streets prior to the official release date. Gregory Abowd and a team of engineers at Georgia Tech have designed a camera-neutralizing gadget that works by flashing a thin beam of white light into a digital camera’s image sensor, rendering it useless in the process. This does not work against our eyes, analog cameras, and digital SLRs though. Should a commercial version be released, expect museums, cinemas, and government buildings to purchase this by the dozen.
