Intel launches new Dual Core Itanium 2 Processors

Intel lifted the curtain of 5 new chips in the Dual Core Itanium 2 Processor 9000 series. Previously known as ‘Montecito’, these new processors offer double the performance while improving on the performance-per-watt by 2.5 times when compared against current single-core versions. The top-of-the-line 9050 boasts two processing cores and Hyper-Threading technology that enables it to execute up to 4 instructions per processor. These new processors are packed with over 1.7 billion transistors and will begin shipping today. For the list of pricing details, read more about it after the jump.
