Marantz’s new single-chip DLP projector, the VP-11S1, offers full up-conversion capability up to 1080p HD resolution, thanks to Texas Instruments’ 1080p HD chip that doubles the number of pixel count of previous 720p chips to a grand total of more than 2 million pixels. The VP-11S1 uses the same die-cast aluminum chassis use in Marantz’ VP-12 series and comes with customized color filters and a 200 Watt DC SuperHighPressure lamp assembly. This device operates silently and reliably via the Quiet Fluid Dynamic Bearing motor. It costs a buck short of $20,000, making it out of reach for the average Joe.
