NEC’s new multimedia notebook, the LaVie LL590/GG will be released in August for the Japanese masses at approximately $1,831. At that price, you get a notebook that is powered by AMD’s Turion 64 X2 TL-50 1.6GHz processor, 768MB of DDR2 SDRAM (that is definitely a strange number), a 100GB hard drive, and a 15.4″ super bright WXGA display with ShineView technology. Graphical power is provided by the ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 chipset. The LaVie ships with a DVD Super-Multi drive. Other features include a quartet of USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, WiFi connectivity, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3-in-1 memory card reader.
