Samsung has upped the ante in the MultiMediaCard market after it successfully developed the highest density MMC card that has its roots from the advanced multi-level cell NAND flash memory. In addition, Samsung also has developed the best performing MMC card based on single-level cell NAND flash as well, making both MLC-based MMCplus cards prime candidates to usher in a new era for portable devices. The new MMCplus card will come in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities, offering a read speed of 40MB/s and a write speed of 25MB/s. Expect to see these new cards hit the stores sometime in the second half of this year.
