Samsung’s new Super-Writemaster 18x DVD writer, the SH-S182D, offers the following capabilities – it can write to DVD+/-R with 18X, DVD-RAM with 12X, DVD+/-R Double Layer with 8X, DVD+RW with 8X and DVD-RW with 6X. These are supposedly the speediest DVD+/-R and DVD-RAM speeds in the market currently. Samsung has posted some pretty bold claims regarding the SH-S182D – it clocks up just 4 minutes and 48 seconds to backup 4.7GB worth of data on a DVD+/-R disc. That is approximately 1 minute faster than current 16x drives. The SH-S182D is available in internal and external formats with LightScribe functionality.
