Skype and its hardware partners have worked to produce the first WiFi phones specially made for Skype software that enables Web-based calls on the move. Skype hopes that this decision will free people from their computers whenever they want to make a call as long as they’re in the vicinity of a WiFi hotspot. The quartet of phones that come preloaded with Skype software includes the Belkin WiFi Phone, the Edge-Core WiFi Phone, the NETGEAR WiFi Phone, and the SMC Wi-Fi Phone. Expect the same UI and functionalities found on the PC version of Skype on these new WiFi phones that will roll out in Q3 2006.
