Elecom has a new card reader in town, and the MR-PCA12 PCMCIA card reader works a little differently as it does not connect via USB but instead slides into your notebook’s PCMCIA slot directly. Supported card formats include the new SDHC, SD, MMC, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, xD, miniSD, microSD, microSD, RS-MMC, RS-MMC 4.0, Memory Stick Duo, and Memory Stick Pro Duo, although some of the mentioned will require additional adapters before they can be read. You can pick up the MR-PCA12 PCMCIA card reader when it is released next month in Japan for approximately $36.
