The FluChip has proven to be quite reliable when it came to characterizing influenza subtypes, which is a positive step forward. This gene chip will be exposed to a sample of unknown composition where the probes within will match the gene sequences of bacteria or viruses that are present in the sample result, making it easier for doctors to diagnose the cause of infection. The group of scientists involved in the FluChip’s development find that the main challenge lies in determining the flu virus’ gene sequences in order to be used as probes. Hopefully further strides can be made for the betterment of mankind.
