The Odor Recorder is currently in its prototype, but it still holds the distinction of being the world’s first smell recorder. This device will measure the target smell via an array of Quartz Crystal Microbalance sensors, which are in turn exposed to a mixture of several components blended via an odor mixer. The result is then compared against the target flavor, where the odor recipe is subsequently adjusted to minimize the difference between both smells. Looks like when this technology becomes commercially viable, games will be at the top of the shopping list as gamers are often at the forefront of technology that will further enhance their gaming experience.
