Samsung to produce 80nm 1Gbit DDR2 RAM

Remember the good old days when you looked down upon the rest of the 80486 crowd with your Pentium 60MHz and 8MB of RAM? Such a beast of a machine could run Doom in full screen glory at puke-inducing framerates. Memory prices and quantity have come a long way from then, with 512MB of RAM being found on base systems these days. Samsung’s move to mass produce 80nm 1Gbit DDR2 memory modules comes across as great news as it will reduce the overall costs for 2GB and 4GB DDR2 modules which bodes well for the upcoming release of Windows Vista.
