Looks like them Italian kids in Rome had better make sure they don’t get their digits hacked off by the Mafia if they want their lunch as local schools will soon be implementing a biometric fingerprint scanning system which enables students to pay for school lunches. The previous system was slow and error-prone, to say the least, and this new system hopes to speed things up. Fingerprint scanning payment will not be made compulsory, but it is interesting to note that biometric technology has advanced to newer heights that can be safely implemented for everyday use. There is no word on the error-rate though, as somebody else might add on to your tab due to a mismatched print.
