
Early adopters, sit up and take note! HP has lifted the curtain on the new USB 2.0 HD DVD drive that goes by the model name HD100 DVD-ROM. It will be released before the year is over, clearly stating the change of camp from Blu-ray to HD DVD. If you plan to watch HD DVD movies on your PC, make sure your PC is adequately equipped with at least a Pentium D 840 3.2GHz or AMD 64 X2 2.2GHz and a good mid-range video card that costs approximately $200. Do remember to purchase a HDMI or HDCP-compliant DVI-D connection in order to view it on your monitor. Performance figures of the HD100 DVD-ROM is rated at 2.4x, 5x, and 14x for the HD DVD, DVD, and CD read speeds respectively.
