Nissan aims to cut down drunk driving

Looks like Nissan of Japan is sick and tired of seeing their beautiful automobiles get sent to the junkyard because of a sake overdose in the driver and decided to take a more pro-active role in combating the disease known as “Driving Driving”. A new model from Nissan will come with a straw-like tube on the driver’s seat which requires the driver to blow into directly. A reading that reaches the intoxicated level will result in the inability for the vehicle to start. One way for smart (albeit drunk) drivers to avoid this would be getting their buddy to exhale into the tube before turning on the engine and swerving their way home. Nissan is also looking at a device that requires the driver to insert a series of digits which proves more difficult to do when under the influence. Pretty neat, eh?
