Sony has managed to produce a fire-resistant plastic made from unwanted DVD discs according to Japanese paper Nikkei Business Daily. The new fire-resistant plastic has a composition of old DVD discs that stand at 85%, styrene elastomer, inorganic filler powder, and a new fire retardant. Sony claims that this fire-resistant plastic works much better than the ones available in the market and takes a green slant since its main ingredient is waste material. At least you know your electronic items from Sony will be safe in the event of a fire if Sony makes their products from this new plastic.
