Xbox 360 receive CPU upgrade

Chartered Semiconductor of Singapore are in charge of churning out the upgraded CPU for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 using the 65nm process instead of the current 90nm one. There won’t be any CPU enhancements, although this could potentially solve the Xbox 360 overheating problem. Since the new CPU is cheaper to manufacture, we could be looking at a potential price drop before the holiday season rolls around. More positive news for owners and would-be purchasers of the Xbox 360 – Guitar Hero 2 will make its debut on this console, featuring a new controller which is based on a Gibson Explorer which will remain an exclusive Xbox 360 design. We’re not sure whether the controller is wireless or not, but high definition guitar battles are definitely something to look forward to. Will anyone hold off their console purchase until the dust settles after this holiday season?
