The Butler UMPC concept from Via truly lives up to its name assuming it ever goes into production. This UMPC unit can be mounted onto a full laptop chassis when required, attached with a VoIP module for easy and free calls over the Internet, or even hooked up to a printer module that helps you distribute reminders and e-mails with ease. The Butler is capable of controlling virtually every aspect of a smart home, from heating to recipes, home entertainment to light settings, and more – all from a single, centralized device. Will we ever see such a device released for mass consumers? Probably not anytime soon, but it could be a very real possibility one decade down the road.
