HP will begin to ship the company’s first internal DVD writer that features LightScribe support and a maximum burn speed of 18x next month onwards, according to Lite-on IT. This piece of information can be considered as trustworthy considering the Taiwanese optical disc drive maker does HP drives as well, emphasizing the fact that 18x will be the designated writing speed standard for HP. The new internal DVD writer will be known as the HP dvd940i which is compatible with all major CD and DVD recordable and rewriteable formats, not forgetting DVD-RAM as well. Despite knowing the shipping period, there was no word concerning the price.
