Ever been pulled over by a traffic officer because you failed to acknowledge the “No U Turn” as you were talking on the phone? Now, there is no excuse with a newly-developed technology from Siemens that is capable of reading road signs and alerting you to them. The on-board computer will process information taken from a special camera which will then display the corresponding information in a heads-up display on your windshield. For example, a speed limit sign will result in the legal limit being plastered beside your actual speed, so you know whether there is room to step on the accelerator or release the gas. Siemens hopes that their technology will make its way into vehicles over the next couple of years. I predict that users would get annoyed very quickly…
