Sony to launch Blu-ray recorders

Sony has announced at CEATEC 2006 that they will be releasing a couple of Blu-ray disc recorder this December which can record up to two TV programs simultaneously, courtesy of the pair of digital tuners and a single analog one. The video is recorded onto 25GB Blu-ray media, so that rules 50GB BD-R/BD-RE writing/reading out. The BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 will retail for $2,543 and $2,119 after conversion respectively. It does lead one to wonder – with so many devices now capable of recording TV programs, will we ever find the time to clear the backlog of programs? After all, recording shows doesn’t make sense as you already don’t have enough time as it is, unless you want to record important sports events for posterity.
