Hitachi of Japan has launched the HMP-G1 MP3 player, also known as the near-unpronounceable i.µ’s. It comes in a sleek, black candybar design that looks set to attract both fingerprints and looks. Features include a 1GB flash memory capacity, MP3, WMA and WMA DRM 10 support, a 128 x 64 pixel OLED display, up to 70 hours of mono vocal recording, and around 12 hours of battery life. Too bad there is no external memory card slots as 1GB just doesn’t quite cut it these days. Overall, the Hitachi i.µ’s is a glorified iPod Shuffle that measures 80.7mm x 29.8mm x 14.3mm and weighs 36 grams. You can pick one up in Japan from next month onwards for approximately $100.
