Nokia is set to tackle the handheld gaming market yet again after the demise of its first two forays into this market that has been held by Nintendo’s tight, vice-like grip ever since the Game Boy and Tetris combo swept all and sundry back in 1989. This third outing will consist of Series 60 3rd Edition smartphones, including games-specific software and optimized hardware. We could be looking at the possibility of a dedicated graphics chip within the handset itself, but this inclusion would greatly reduce battery life of the device. The advent of 3G connectivity will also usher in a new era of portable multiplayer gaming. More updates to come as new developments arise from Nokia.
