Generally, the horde agrees that the Nikon D40 is not mere vaporware and will be marketed as an entry-level digital SLR camera, featuring a 6.1 megapixel image sensor, a 2.5″ LCD display, a 2.5 fps burst mode, ISO 200 to 3200, three AF points, three metering modes, and USB 2.0 connectivity. Informants also lay claim to a recommended retail price of $499 for the body only, while the G-II version 18-55mm lens will cost an extra Benjamin.
