Samsung takes thinnest LCD crown

Yikes! We leave engineers to themselves and they have managed to conjure up what looks like magic. Apparently the good folks at Samsung have broken the record of the world’s thinnest mobile LCD display, clocking in a mere 1.23mm, which is 0.07mm than LG and Philips LCD’s combined effort. This new super slim display is available in 2.1″ and 2.2″ screen sizes and boasts QVGA 240 x 320 pixels resolution, a brightness level of 300 nits, and a contrast ratio of 500 to 1. Samsung’s new mobile technology, i-Lens, also allows the integration of the entire panel assembly into a single module that is more robust and clearer than conventional panels. It is widely tipped that mass production will begin in Q3 2007 onwards.
