You might think that Samsung concentrates all of its efforts for cellphones only, but the introduction of the Mahru 2 humanoid robot dispels that myth. The Mahru 2 is the result of a joint venture between the Korea Institute of Science and Technology and Samsung Electronics, and bests its predecessor, the Mahru 1, by featuring voice, face, obstacle, and moving object recognition. It is interesting to note that the Mahru 2 also comes with vision-based manipulation and distributed intelligence that is controlled via an external server. It greets you in the typical Korean style, dancing and walking in an adorable gait when following a moving object. The Mahru 2 is different from most of the other robots we have encountered as it is a networked-based machine.
