Ubergizmo's Console Camp-Out Guide

The madness has begun – people are already lining up outside stores that carry next generation consoles in order to snag one for themselves. Whether they sell it off for an exorbitant amount on auction sites or they’re purchasing one for the love of gaming, it doesn’t matter. What matters is how you will be able to keep your sanity in check during those long queues. We have compiled a bunch of gadgets that ought to help make your camping experience much more fun and enjoyable. In any case, you can keep up with the latest gadget news with the launch of Ubergizmo’s mobile site.

First off, if you can’t get a mate to line up with you, all is not lost. Do not fear losing your place in line as you can always ask the 914 PC-BOT to deputize on your behalf. Just ask him to stay put while you go off for a toilet break or even stretch a little a couple of blocks away. Hopefully when you return, the 914 PC-BOT would not have caused a ruckus by going around taking upskirt shots of passers-by.

Up next we have a couple of fatties to help keep you and the person behind (or in front, it doesn’t matter) occupied. This Battling Sumo Wrestlers toy from ThinkGeek makes a great ice-breaker, and in case you do not have five grand to throw for the above-mentioned 914 PC-BOT, you would have won a new friend over who can then look after your belongings when you sneak off to ease yourself. Just make sure he’s the trustworthy sort as you wouldn’t want to find your spot (and belongings) disappear upon your return.

You would notice that there is no mention of MP3 players, portable media players, or even digital cameras as everybody and their dog probably own at least one of them. One problem though – there are no power outlets available anywhere. Fret not, there is a greener solution available in the form of the limited edition Tumi PowerPack Backpack. This unique backpack features a solar panel that works great for charging cellphones, PDAs, and various electronic items.

The Bio Trainer also comes in handy as you will have to move about as little as possible in order to conserve energy that will be used when you whoop for joy upon receiving the long-awaited console. This device will be able to count how many calories you have burnt up courtesy of its integrated tri-axis accelerometer within. With a record of 10 days’ activities, you’ll be able to know whether playing the Nintendo DS Lite takes up more energy than mashing buttons on the Sony PSP.

Of course, if you are lining up with a partner, the both of you can always while time away with the portable DVD player that features a couple of wireless headphones. This way, you not only do away with the tangled mess that wires are so famous for, but the loud sounds from an action flick will not pollute the airwaves around you.

Last but not least, if you do carry a notebook around (make sure it’s fully charged beforehand), the Warmmi USB Heating Slippers and USB-powered Warmer Mouse will come in handy especially at night when the mercury drops. You could settle for a nice pair of thick woolen socks and mittens, but do remember that you’ve got some street geek cred to maintain.

Does anyone have any other ideas on the essential camp-out gadgets one must have?
