Purists will gripe and whine that the Nintendo Wii does not feature any built-in DVD playback, but their distress doesn’t really matter much as most homes already have a DVD player. In fact, DVD players are so cheap these days you can probably snag one for under $50 easily. This complaint has not gone unnoticed by the Big N, and they will be releasing a DVD-compatible Wii sometime in the latter half of 2007. The updated console will use the CinePlayer CE DVD Navigator from Sonic Solutions. In the meantime, you had better get your camping gear ready as the Wii is released Stateside this Sunday.
