These days, most cellphones come with their very own chargers that finding a replacement can often be a headache if you’re not cellphone savvy. China is getting sick of this situation and recently announced that all handsets sold in China must utilize a standard USB charger. This is a neat move as charging via USB is much more convenient than using a wall outlet. I think the secret behind so many different chargers for different phones lie in one simple fact – profit. The more variety there are, the higher the profit margin. Having a single, universal cellphone charger is just plain nuts as the product price will drop to unbelievable lows, cutting the profit margin to nearly nothing. Do you want to see this change arrive Stateside?
