Computer goes head-to-head against AIDS

South Africa is a hotbed for serious diseases like AIDS and malaria, and despite all the billions of monetary aid being poured annually, there is still much work to be done. Researchers have enlisted the help of condoms and sex education to stem the tide of the AIDS epidemic to little or no avail, which is why they have enlisted the help of two supercomputers that help speed up the research cycle via a simulation. These supercomputers were donated by Intel, and it comes with 64 top-of-the-line processors in each, operating at the speed of 1 teraflop. They are meant to reveal how disease is transmitted from one person to another, tracking its movement throughout the body. Hopefully more can be done about the dire situation in South Africa with these new additions.
