We haven’t verified for ourselves but BackupHDDVD claims to let users “backup” their HD-DVD discs. We’ve included a video found on that supposedly demonstrates this.
If true, it shouldn’t surprise anyone: nothing is unbreakable and at best, copy-protection mechanisms are designed to make copying painful enough to convince consumers to buy discs.
